Your House

Matthew 7:24-27

You, O Lord,
I have found.
You are the rock
beneath this ground.

The rain floods the stream
and the wind beats
and beats
against the walls,
but I see Your house
and it does not fall.

You,
You are the stone path
to the porch.
You are the lamp
hung above the door.

Though the earth
clings to my shoes,
I ask for You.

Oh how I’ve tried
with all my lumber,
nails, dreams;
my frantic hammering
could not hold
my house
together.

You,
You always answer
and always welcome me.
You are home,
a covering.
